Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — RDA Edition
> Disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of your braking system. They cop a beating from friction and heat, especially on vehicles like the Mitsubishi Outlander and Jeep Patriot that tackle all sorts of Kiwi roads.
Naughty Noises and Other Clues
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you brake
• Feeling a judder in the brake pedal
• Taking longer to pull up than you'd like
• Rotors looking a bit rough with scoring or rust
• Brake pads wearing unevenly
WOF Woes?
Dodgy brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF. They need to be above the minimum thickness and in decent nick to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, a few things to keep in mind, mate:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper axle stands – it's not worth the risk.
• Blast that Brake Dust: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good spray with Brake Cleaner to keep the dust down. Inhale that stuff and you'll be coughing for day.
• Keep Your Mitts Clean: Brakes are oily and dirty. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to save your hands from the worst of it.
• Grease is Your Friend: Copper anti-seize grease on the caliper bolts will stop them seizing up next time you're in there. A little dab will do ya.
Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotor is the right match for your vehicle – check the specs. Some models, like the Peugeot 4008, might have different sized rotors.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
