Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotor — RDA's Got You Sorted
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit in your Honda's braking system. They wear down over time from all that friction, which means your braking won't be as sharp, especially if you're doing a lot of stop-start driving in your Civic or CR-V.
Warning Signs You've Landed Here
• Screeching or grinding when you hit the brakes.
• Feeling a wobble or pulsing through the brake pedal.
• Your stopping distance is getting longer.
• You can see grooves or damage on the rotor.
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. Rotors need to be above a minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those rotors, let's make sure you're all set. Safety first, eh? Grab yourself some safety glasses to keep the dust and debris out of your eyes. You'll also want a good set of nitrile gloves – keeps the hands clean and protected. Now, braking creates brake dust, which you don't want to breathe. A can of Brake Cleaner is your best mate for blasting that carbon dust away. And don't forget a bit of [anti-seize caliper grease] to keep everything moving smoothly when you put it back together.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
