Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — With RDA
> Your Hyundai or Kia's disc brake rotors are vital for safe stopping. Over time, they wear down from heat, friction, and all the grit on our roads, especially on family SUVs like the Sportage and Tucson.
Signs It's Time for New Rotors
• Screeching or grinding when you hit the brakes.
• Your brake pedal feels like it's vibrating.
• Taking longer to stop than usual.
• You can see scoring, rust, or cracks on the rotor.
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly.
Will it pass WOF?
Dodgy brake rotors are a quick way to fail a WOF in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and free of cracks to pass the test.

Expert's Advice
Worn rotors put you and your family at risk. Swapping them out gives you better braking and keeps everyone safer.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get stuck in, a few quick reminders from yours truly to keep things safe and tidy:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper axle stands – it's a no-brainer for your safety.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast away the muck – keeps everything working smoothly and stops that awful squealing.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands from the grime with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Trust me, you'll thank me later when you're not scrubbing black grease out from under your fingernails.
• Don't Seize Up: A little Caliper Grease on the right spots will keep everything moving freely and prevent annoying squeaks. Copper anti-seize is your friend here.
• Protect your eyes: Safety glasses will keep any brake dust or debris out of your eyes.

Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the right match for your car's braking setup. Some models might use different rotor sizes. Double-check the fit for your exact year, model, and engine.

• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
