Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — The RDA Way
> Disc brake rotors are key for good stopping power in your Honda. Over time, they wear down from the pads rubbing on them, which means you won't pull up as quickly, especially if you're always on the road in your Honda Civic or Honda Accord.

Signs It's Time for New Rotors
• Brakes squealing like a piglet or grinding like gears.
• Brake pedal vibrating – feels like a dodgy washing machine.
• Taking longer to stop – scary stuff!
• Rotors look scored or rooted.
• Brake pads wearing unevenly.

Will it pass WOF?
Dodgy brake rotors are a quick way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They need to be above a minimum thickness and can't have cracks or major damage to get the thumbs up.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: An hour or two per rotor
Gear You'll Need: Jack, stands, spanners, sockets, torque wrench, brake cleaner, wheel chocks.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth it! And chuck on some safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast it off the rotors and calipers before you start pulling things apart. Makes the job way less messy.
• Protect Your Hands: Those brake components can be sharp and grimy. A decent pair of Nitrile Gloves will save your skin from cuts and keep the grease at bay.
• Lube it Up: A smear of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins and pad contact points will keep everything moving smoothly and prevent squealing. Copper grease works a treat.

Expert Recommendation
Worn rotors mean your Honda won't stop as well as it should. Replacing them keeps you safe and stops other brake bits from getting damaged. Bob at CARFIX is always keen for a yarn and can help you find the perfect rotors for your Honda. Pop into Bob's Shop and have a chat!

Fitment Notes
Make sure you get the right size rotor for your Honda. Some models, like the Honda HR-V/Vezel (2022-2999), might need different rotors than older ones like the Honda CR-V (2001-2006).

Bob's your uncle!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
