Land Rover Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: A Kiwi DIY Guide
> Your Land Rover's disc brake rotors are absolutely crucial for stopping safely. Over time, especially with the tough conditions Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports often face, these rotors can wear down, warp, or even crack. That means reduced braking performance, and that's not ideal, aye?
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes
• Feeling a vibration or pulsing through the brake pedal
• Your stopping distance seems longer than usual
• You can see scoring, cracks, or rust on the rotor itself
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be within the minimum thickness and free from cracks to pass the test.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
