Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — Featuring RDA
> Disc brake rotors are super important for your Toyota Camry or Lexus ES's braking. They wear down over time, warp from heat, or get rusty, which makes it harder to stop safely. This is especially true if you're always in stop-and-go traffic.
Spotting the Trouble
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes
• Feeling a wobble or pulsing in the pedal
• Taking longer to stop than usual
• Seeing grooves, rust, or other damage on the rotor
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. The rotors have to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, mate, safety first! Grab some safety glasses to keep the metal dust out of your eyes, and a pair of nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean from all that brake dust and grease. Brake dust can be nasty stuff, so don't muck around! You'll also want a can of brake cleaner to blast away any lingering grime and carbon dust before you put everything back together. And a bit of [anti-seize caliper grease] to keep things moving smoothly. Never get under a car supported only by a jack!
Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors put a real dent in the safety of your Toyota Camry or Lexus ES. Getting them replaced means better braking and stops other parts from wearing out too fast. RDA rotors are a good choice, but we've got a bunch of options at CARFIX. Bob @ CARFIX is always here to lend a hand, pop over to Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the right fit for your Camry or Lexus ES, down to the year and model. Some models might have different sized rotors. Always swap out rotors in pairs (both fronts or both rears) to keep your braking nice and balanced. Bob's the man to see for the right parts!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
