Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement — Sorted with RDA
> Your Ford Mondeo or Jag X-Type relies on disc brake rotors to pull you up safely. Over time, friction and heat take their toll, reducing your braking power. Swapping them out regularly keeps your stopping on point, which is a no-brainer for family and executive vehicles.
Symptoms That Led You Here
• Squealing or grinding noises when braking
• Vibration or pulsation felt through the brake pedal
• Increased stopping distance
• Visible scoring, cracks, or rust on the rotor surface
• Brake pad wear is uneven
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. Rotors need to be within the minimum thickness and no cracks or major damage to pass the test.
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and potentially a brake caliper tool.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those rotors, let's make sure you're sorted. Safety first, always! Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your mitts clean from all that brake dust – nasty stuff, that. A can of Brake Cleaner is your best mate for blasting away carbon buildup. And don't forget your peepers – Safety Glasses are a must to keep the grime out. Finally, a little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep everything moving smoothly. Never get under a car only supported by a jack!

Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors? That's a risk you don't want to take on your Mondeo or X-Type. Replacing them keeps your braking sweet and stops other brake bits from getting damaged. RDA rotors are a solid choice, and CARFIX has a bunch more. Bob @ CARFIX is always on hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your vehicle. Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the same as your old ones. Check the size, how thick they are, and the bolt pattern to be sure they fit right. Some models might have different rotor sizes, so double-check!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
