Swapping Out Your HSV Avalanche's Disc Brake Rotors — Featuring RDA
> Your HSV Avalanche's disc brake rotors are critical. Over time, they wear from friction and heat, reducing braking performance, especially tough on performance vehicles like yours.
Signs You Might Need New Rotors
• Squealing or grinding when braking.
• Vibration in the brake pedal.
• Longer stopping distances.
• Visible damage on the rotor.
• Uneven pad wear.
WOF Woes?
Worn rotors are a common reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. They must be within the manufacturer's thickness specs and free of cracks to pass.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Eh? Never, ever get under your Avalanche supported *only* by a jack. Always use jack stands. Safety glasses are a no-brainer to keep brake dust out of your eyes.
• Cleanliness is Key: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. It'll make the job much cleaner.
• Protect Your Hands: Brake cleaner and old brake components aren't kind to your skin. A decent pair of Nitrile Gloves will keep your hands clean and protected.
• Don't Forget the Grease: When you're putting everything back together, use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the sliding surfaces. This helps everything move smoothly and prevents squealing.
Fitment Notes
• Make sure the new rotor fits your specific HSV Avalanche model and year.
• Always replace rotors in pairs.
• Replace brake pads at the same time.
Bob’s your uncle!

• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
