Description

Disc Brake Rotor Swap-Out Guide — Starring RDA
> Your Audi A6's disc brake rotors are dead-set vital. Over time, they get worn down by friction, heat, and all the muck from the road, which can make your braking a bit dodgy and less safe. This is especially true if you're often driving in tough conditions.
What Clued You In?
• Squealing like a stuck pig or a grinding noise when you hit the brakes
• Feeling a judder in the brake pedal
• Taking longer to stop than you reckon you should
• Seeing scoring, cracks, or rust on the rotors
• Brake pads wearing unevenly
WOF Worthy?
Worn or damaged disc brake rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in New Zealand. Rotors need to be a certain thickness and can't have cracks or major damage to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth more than a cafe lunch.
• Brake Cleaner: Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of all that nasty brake dust. Trust us; your lungs will thank you.
• Caliper Grease: A wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly. It's the little things that count.
• Hand Protection: Grab some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean. Brake dust is a bugger to get off.
• Eye Protection: Don't forget your safety glasses. You only get one set of eyes, so look after them!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
