Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — The RDA Way
> Disc brake rotors are the workhorses in your braking system. They put up with a lot – friction, heat, the works! Especially if you're driving a performance machine like a BMW 3 Series or a Merc SL. Over time, they wear down, and that means your stopping power goes down too, which is never a good idea.
How Do You Know It's Time?
• Your brakes are screaming like a banshee
• The brake pedal's doing the Macarena (vibrating)
• Taking longer to stop than you'd like
• The rotor surface looks like the surface of the moon
• Your brake pads are wearing out unevenly
Reckon It'll Pass a WOF?
Nope. Dodgy brake rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They need to be a certain thickness and free from major damage to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth it.
• Brake Cleaner: Brake Cleaner is your best mate for blasting away all that nasty brake dust and grime. Trust me, there will be a lot.
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of Anti-Seize Caliper Grease on the right spots keeps things moving smoothly and prevents squeaks. Worth its weight in gold.
• Gloves: Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean. Brake dust is not your friend.
• Eye Protection: Safety Glasses are a no-brainer. Keep that brake dust out of your eyes!
Bob's Two Cents
Worn rotors are a serious safety risk. Replacing them gives you back your braking confidence and helps avoid accidents. RDA rotors are a solid choice, but at CARFIX, we've got something for every budget and driving style. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn, and we'll sort you out with the perfect parts for your ride.
Important Fitment Notes
Double-check that the new rotors fit your specific car. Some models have different rotor sizes or designs. Always replace rotors in pairs (both sides) for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
