Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring RDA
> Disc brake rotors are what your brake pads clamp onto to slow you down. Over time, they can wear, warp, or crack, especially with all that stop-start driving. This means less stopping power when you need it most. Time for a change, mate!

Symptoms That Led You Here
• Vibration in the pedal or steering wheel when braking? Not ideal.
• Brakes squealing like a gutted pig? That's not right.
• Taking longer to stop than you used to? Dodgy, mate, dodgy.
• Rotors looking a bit rough with grooves or discolouration? Time to sort it.

Will it pass WOF?
No way, mate. Dodgy brake rotors are a WOF failure. They need to be thick enough and in good nick to pass the test. It's a no-brainer, really – safety first!

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10 (Moderate)
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per axle (front or rear)
Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel nut wrench, brake caliper compression tool, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, wire brush, and potentially an impact driver for stubborn rotor screws.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those brakes, let's make sure you're sorted, aye? Brakes are safety-critical, so no cutting corners!
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life depends on it!
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give those new rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner before you fit them. Gets rid of any manufacturing grease and prevents contamination.
• Hand Protection: Grab some Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake dust aren't great for the skin.
• Stop the Squeal: A wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the contact points can work wonders to prevent annoying brake squeal. Ask one of us to point you in the right direction.
• Eye Protection: Safety glasses - you don't want any debris flying in your eyes.

Fitment Notes
This RDA rotor (RDA7045) fits the Volkswagen Polo 75 (1994-1999) and the Polo 16V (1999-2001). Double-check your year and model, though, as brakes can differ even on similar cars.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
