Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — An RDA Feature
> Disc brake rotors are dead important for good stopping power. They wear down over time from the brake pads rubbing on them, which means they can't get rid of heat as well and your stopping distances get longer, especially if you're always driving around town in your Ford Focus or giving it heaps in your Volvo C70.
Spotting the Trouble Signs
• Brakes squealing like a stuck pig or grinding away?
• Brake pedal vibrating like crazy?
• Taking way longer to stop than you should?
• Rotors looking scored, cracked, or rusty?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly?
WOF Woes?
Worn rotors are a real WOF killer here in NZ. Your rotors need to be within the thickness specs and not cracked or too badly damaged to pass the test.

Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: About 1-2 hours per rotor
Gear You'll Need: Jack, jack stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a brake caliper tool.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, let's make sure you're all set. Safety first, always! Grab yourself some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and a pair of heavy-duty nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean. When you're pulling those old rotors off, give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of all that nasty brake dust – it's not good to breathe in! And when you're putting the new rotors on, a little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the sliding surfaces will keep things moving smoothly.
Bob's Two Cents
Worn brake rotors are a no-brainer when it comes to safety. New rotors mean better braking. RDA rotors are a good, solid choice, but we've got plenty of options at CARFIX to suit your budget and how you drive. Pop into Bob's Shop and we'll sort you out with the right parts for your Ford Focus or Volvo. See you soon.
Fitment Notes
Double-check that these rotors fit your exact Ford Focus or Volvo model and year. Some models have different rotor sizes or need special tools.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
