Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — RDA Featured
> Your HSV's disc brake rotors are absolutely vital. They take a beating from friction and heat, especially if you're giving it a bit of stick out on the open road. If they're warped or knackered, your braking can suffer big time. Replacing them is a no-brainer for safety.
Spotting the Trouble
• Your brake pedal's doing the Macarena (pulsating or vibrating)
• Sounds like a flock of seagulls every time you brake (squealing or grinding)
• Taking longer to pull up than you'd like
• Rotors looking like they've seen better days (cracks or damage)
WOF Woes?
Worn rotors are a dead cert for failing a WOF here in NZ. They need to be within the minimum thickness and free of cracks to get the tick of approval.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you go full throttle, let's sort out a few bits and pieces to make the job smoother and safer. No one wants a trip to A&E or a brake job that turns into a nightmare.
• Safety First, Mates!: Never, ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth more than saving a few bucks. Chuck on some Safety Glasses to keep the crud out of your peepers and Nitrile Gloves to keep the hands clean.
• Brake Dust Be Gone: Give those new rotors a good spray down with Brake Cleaner before you fit them. Gets rid of any manufacturing gunk that might mess with your braking. Also, after you take the old rotors off, give the hubs a clean with the brake cleaner to ensure a clean mount.
• Copper Anti-Seize Caliper Love: When reassembling the calipers, a tiny smear of copper anti-seize grease on the caliper bolt threads will help ensure that they can be removed easily in the future. Do not get any on the rotors or pads!
Bob's Two Cents
If your HSV Grange or Clubsport isn't pulling up like it should, don't muck around. New rotors mean better braking and a safer ride. Give us a yell here at CARFIX, and we'll get you sorted. Head over to Bob's Shop for a chat!
Fitment Notes
Double-check those rotors are the right fit for your HSV – model and year are key. Rotor diameter and thickness need to match what you had before. Some HSVs have unique rotor designs or need specific brake pad compounds, so do your homework.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
