Swapping Out Your SAAB's Brake Rotors — Bob's RDA Guide
> Those disc brake rotors on your SAAB are prime for wear and tear. All that friction from the pads, especially with the tough conditions our roads dish out to your 9000 or 900, means they won't last forever. Warped or worn rotors? That's bad news for stopping distances and safety, mate.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Feel that brake pedal pulsing or vibrating?
• Hear any squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes?
• Taking longer to stop than usual?
• See any scoring or damage on the rotor itself?
• Notice your brake pads wearing unevenly?
WOF Woes?
Worn brake rotors are a classic reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. They've gotta be above that minimum thickness and free from cracks to pass the test.
DIY or Leave it to the Pros?
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: Give yourself 2-3 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported ONLY by a jack!), lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, rotor removal tool (might need it).
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, safety first, eh? Grab some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and a pair of nitrile gloves to keep the hands clean. Blast everything down with brake cleaner to get rid of that brake dust – nasty stuff! And don't forget a wee bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots to keep things moving smoothly.
Bob's Two Cents
I reckon you should always replace brake rotors in pairs – keeps your braking nice and even. Don't skimp on safety when it comes to your SAAB 9000 or 900. Give us a yell at Bob's Shop, and we'll sort you out!
Fitment Notes
Double-check those new rotors match the old ones for your SAAB 9000 or 900. And watch out for any little quirks with ABS or other brake bits.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
