Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring RDA
> Disc brake rotors – they're the unsung heroes in your Holden or HSV's braking setup. Over time, all that friction can take its toll, leading to warping or corrosion, especially if you drive it hard or do a lot of stop-start driving.
Symptoms That Led You Here
• Brake pedal feels like it's pulsing or vibrating
• Hear squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes
• Taking longer to stop than usual
• Can see scoring or damage on the rotor itself
• Brake pads wearing unevenly
Will it pass WOF?
Dodgy brake rotors are a guaranteed way to fail your WOF here in NZ. They need to be above a certain thickness and free from cracks to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under your Commodore supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands – your life's worth it.
• Brake Dust is Nasty: When you're pulling those old rotors off, there's going to be brake dust everywhere. It's not good to breathe in, so grab some Safety Glasses and maybe a dust mask.
• Keep it Clean: Before slapping on the new rotors, give everything a good blast with some Brake Cleaner. Gets rid of all the gunk and ensures a good surface for the pads.
• Lube is Your Friend: A little dab of anti-seize Caliper Grease on the caliper bolts will make your life easier next time you're in there. Plus, grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep the hands clean.
Expert Recommendation
Worn rotors are a safety risk and can knacker other parts of your braking system. Swapping them out keeps your braking sharp and stops bigger problems down the line. Bob @ CARFIX is your man for sussing out exactly what rotor you need for your Holden or HSV. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Double-check the new rotors match your Holden or HSV's specs – diameter, thickness, the whole shebang. Some models use different sizes depending on the year and trim.

• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
