Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — The RDA Way
> Your Peugeot or Citroen's brake rotors are proper important, mate. They cop a hiding from friction and heat, especially if you're always in town or giving it heaps on the open road. Worn rotors mean dodgy braking and could end up real nasty.

Spotting the Trouble
• Brakes sounding like a startled cat?
• Brake pedal doing the Macarena?
• Taking longer to stop than a freight train?
• Rotors looking like they've been attacked by a grinder?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly? That's a worry.

WOF Woes?
Buggered brake rotors are a dead cert for a WOF failure here in NZ. They need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: 1.5 - 2 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never skip the stands!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and new brake pads (good idea to do 'em together).

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those brakes, let's make sure you're all set. Safety first, always! Grab some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and a pair of nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean from all that brake dust. Nasty stuff, that. Speaking of which, give those new rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner to get rid of any factory gunk. And don't forget a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts to keep them sweet for next time.

Expert Recommendation
Replacing those brake rotors is a no-brainer for keeping your Peugeot 306 or Citroen Xantia pulling up safely. The RDA rotor is a good starting point, but CARFIX has a heap of options to suit your wallet and how you drive. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn and we'll sort you out with exactly what you need.

Fitment Notes
Double-check you've got the right rotor size for your Peugeot or Citroen model and year. Some models have different sizes depending on the trim. Always do both sides of the axle at the same time to keep things even.

Bob's word is bond!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
