Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement — Sorted with RDA
> Your disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit for stopping safely. They wear down over time from heat, friction, and all the grit on our roads, especially in trusty cars like the Mazda 626 and Ford Telstar. Time for a change? Let's get it sorted.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing like a gutted pig when you hit the brakes?
• Feeling a judder in the pedal?
• Brakes not as sharp as they used to be?
• Rotors looking a bit worse for wear with scoring or damage?
• Taking longer to pull up?
WOF Woes?
Worn rotors are a classic reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. They've gotta be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

Time Needed: An hour or two per rotor
Tools You'll Need: Jack, stands (never skip these!), lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, and some brake cleaner. You might need a caliper tool, too.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, grab these must-haves to make the job safer and easier:
• Safety First: Always wear safety glasses to protect your peepers from brake dust and flying grit. And never, ever get under a car that's only supported by a jack! Use proper jack stands – it's a no-brainer.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab some Brake Cleaner spray to blast away the grime before you start. It'll make the job cleaner and safer.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake fluid aren't kind to your skin.
• Lube It Right: A little Anti-Seize Compound on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time you're in there. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later.
Expert Recommendation
Worn rotors are a worry for your Mazda 323, Ford Laser, or Mazda 626. New ones mean better braking and stopping damage to other parts. Come see Bob @ CARFIX and he'll sort you out with the right bits for your ride. Head over to Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Double-check these fit your Mazda, Ford, or whatever you drive. Rotor diameter, thickness, and bolt pattern are key. Caliper retraction might need special tools on some models.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
