Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: Get Your Ford Falcon Stopping Sweetly
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important part of your Ford Falcon or LTD's braking system. Over time, they get worn down by friction, heat, and all the bits of gunk on the road. This can make your braking less effective and less safe. Let's get those brakes sorted!
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes? Sounds like a farmyard, eh?
• Feeling a wobble or pulse through the brake pedal? Not ideal.
• Taking longer to stop than usual? Definitely time to take action.
• Seeing scoring, rust, or cracks on the rotor surface? No good, mate.
• Brake pads wearing unevenly? That's a tell-tale sign.
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or damaged disc brake rotors are a quick way to fail a WOF here in New Zealand. Rotors need to be within the minimum thickness and free from cracks or serious damage to pass the test. No point getting caught out!

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those rotors, it's a no-brainer to grab a few bits and pieces to make the job safer and easier. Trust me, a little prep goes a long way!
• Safety First: Don't muck around when it comes to safety. Get yourself some Safety Glasses to keep the metal dust out of your eyes.
• Keep 'em Clean: Blast away brake dust and grime with some Brake Cleaner. Makes the job much cleaner and helps the new parts bed in properly.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands from the inevitable grime with a set of Nitrile Gloves. Your hands will thank you.
• Stop the Squeal: A wee dab of anti-seize Caliper Grease on the right spots will keep things quiet and prevent future headaches. No one likes a squeaky brake!
And remember, never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper stands – it's not worth the risk!
Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors can seriously mess with your braking, especially in bigger vehicles like the Ford LTD and Fairlane. Swapping them out keeps you safe and gives you the stopping power you need. Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the right match for your Ford model and year. Some models might have different rotor sizes or setups. Always swap out rotors in pairs (both sides of the axle) so your braking is even as she goes.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
