Description

Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — TRW Style
> Brake pads? They're the unsung heroes that grip onto your brake rotors, turning 'go' into 'whoa'. Over time, they wear down – especially in tough conditions for bigger rigs like the Highlander/Kluger and the zippy Blade VVTi. Letting them go too long can mean dodgy braking and even wrecking other bits. Time to get 'em sorted!
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Hear a squeal or grind when you hit the brakes?
• Brakes feeling a bit soft or not pulling up like they used to?
• Steering wheel or brake pedal shaking when you brake?
• Car pulling to one side when you try to stop?
• Dashboard warning light glaring at you?
WOF Woes?
Worn brake pads? That's a big no-no for your WOF. They'll fail you faster than you can say 'cafe lunch'. Get them sorted before inspection time to keep everyone safe.
DIY or Get a Pro?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A good Saturday project)
Time Needed: An afternoon per axle
What You'll Need: Jack, axle stands (never skip these!), wheel brace, G-clamp or brake piston tool, spanner set, torque wrench, brake cleaner... and maybe a cuppa.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Axle stands are your best friends here. And chuck on some Safety Glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers.
• Cleanliness is King: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to blast away the grime from the rotors and calipers. It'll help everything bed in nicely.
• Grease is Good: A wee dab of anti-seize Caliper Grease on the caliper pins will keep things moving smoothly and prevent squeaks. Don't go overboard, though!
• Glove Up: Keep your hands clean with a pair of Nitrile Gloves. Brake dust isn't exactly a health food.
Bob's Two Cents

The TRW GDB7780DT pads are a solid choice, known for being reliable and lasting well. Perfect for both the family bus and the daily grind. Pop into Bob's Shop and we'll get you sorted with the right pads for your Toyota Highlander, Kluger, or Blade VVTi. Chur!
Fitment Notes
These pads are made to fit the front of Toyota Highlander/Kluger models from 2007-2014 and Toyota Blade VVTi models from 2006-2012. Double-check your ride's year and model to be sure, as things can vary.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
