Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — TRW Edition
> Brake pads are a must-do on the maintenance list, especially for hybrids like the Toyota Aqua and Prius. Regenerative braking can be tough on pads. When they wear down, your braking goes to custard, and rotors can get damaged.
Uh Oh, Sounds Like You've Got These Symptoms:
• Brakes squealing or grinding like crazy?
• Taking longer to stop than usual?
• That pesky brake warning light's on?
• Pads look worn out or damaged?
• Feeling a wobble when you hit the brakes?
Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake pads? Instant fail, mate. They need to be thick enough to pull you up safely. If they're making scary noises, get them checked pronto. Your local mechanic or WOF guru will set you straight.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper stands! And chuck on some safety glasses – brake dust in the eyes is no fun.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is messy and not good to breathe. Have some Brake Cleaner handy to blast it off the parts. Makes the job cleaner and safer.
• Protect Your Hands: Those brake parts can be rough on the skin. A decent set of Nitrile Gloves will keep your hands clean and protected.
• Don't Forget the Grease: A wee bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly and prevent future squeals.

Fitment Notes
Make sure you're grabbing the right brake pad for your Toyota or Lexus hybrid model and year. Some models have different needs depending on the trim. Always do both front or both rear pads at the same time for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
