Description

Brake Pad Replacement: TRW's Got Your Back!
> Brake pads are like the jandals of your braking system; they wear out over time as they rub against the rotors to bring your Hyundai Grandeur, Sonata, or Kia Sportage to a halt. It's normal wear and tear, but bald brake pads are a recipe for disaster, especially with our crazy Kiwi roads. Let's keep you stopping safely, eh?
Uh Oh! Sounds Like You've Got These Symptoms:
• Brakes squealing like a stuck pig?
• Taking longer to stop than a runaway shopping trolley?
• Steering wheel doing the haka when you brake?
• Brakes feeling about as effective as a chocolate teapot, especially with a boot full of gear?
• Dashboard light screaming about brake fluid or worn pads?
WOF Woes?
Worn brake pads? Mate, that's a guaranteed WOF fail. They check those pads like hawks to make sure your stopping power is up to snuff.
DIY or Call in the Pros?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A good Saturday arvo project)
Estimated Time: A couple of hours per axle, give or take a cuppa break.
Gear You'll Need: Jack, axle stands (never skimp on safety!), lug wrench, a G-clamp or piston compressor, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a wire brush to get rid of the crud.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Axle stands are your best mates here. And chuck on some Safety Glasses – no one wants brake dust in their peepers!
• Keep it Clean, Keep it Keen: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give those calipers a good blast with some Brake Cleaner before you start poking around. It'll make the job easier and keep your hands cleaner.
• Glove Up! Protect your mitts with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and brake dust aren't exactly a cafe lunch for your skin.
• Grease is the Word: A little bit of caliper grease (anti-seize) on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly and prevent squealing. Don't go overboard, though!
Bob's Two Cents
I reckon you should swap out those brake pads the moment they start playing up. Keep things sweet and avoid chewing out your rotors. TRW's are a solid choice – tough as old boots and reliable as a good Kiwi BBQ. Pop into Bob's Shop and let's yarn about what's best for your Hyundai or Kia!
Fitment Notes
These pads are made for Hyundai Grandeur (2005-2011), Hyundai Sonata VVTi GLS and CRDi (2008-2010), Hyundai Tucson CRDi (2006-2010), and Kia Sportage CRDi (2006-2008) models. Double-check your rig's year, make, model, and engine – brakes can be like snowflakes, no two are exactly alike!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
