Swapping Out Those Brake Pads — TRW Style
> Brake pads are mission-critical for keeping your Nissan Patrol, Juke, or Ford Maverick safe on the road. They wear down over time, especially with the kind of tough love these vehicles often get. Letting them go too long can mean dodgy stopping and even damage to your rotors – nobody wants that!
What Clued You In?
• Brakes squealing like a rusty gate?
• Taking longer to pull up than a cafe lunch?
• Brake pedal doing the Macarena (vibrating like crazy)?
• Pads looking thinner than your wallet after a weekend away?
WOF Worries?
Worn brake pads are a classic WOF fail here in NZ. Those pads need enough meat on them to stop you safely. Give 'em a regular once-over to keep your ride legal.

Bob's Two Cents
Swapping out those worn brake pads is a no-brainer for staying safe, especially if you're chucking the kids in the back of the Nissan Patrol or towing the boat with your trusty Ford Maverick. If you're not sure what you need, pop into Bob's Shop and let's sort it out together!
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, a quick safety check is in order. Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack – axle stands are your best mate here. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean, and safety glasses to stop any brake dust from getting in your eyes.
While you're at it, give those rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner to get rid of all the old brake dust and grime. It'll help the new pads bed in nicely. A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins is a good idea too, it'll keep everything moving smoothly and prevent annoying squeals down the track.
Fitment Notes
Make sure you're grabbing the right brake pad for your specific Nissan Patrol, Juke, or Ford Maverick model and year. Some models have different brake setups, so double-check those part numbers!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
