Description

Brake Pad Replacement Guide — With TRW
> Brake pads are what stops ya, using friction against the rotors. They wear down over time, especially if you're giving your Honda Civic Type R or Honda S2000 a good thrashing. Keep 'em in good nick to avoid any nasty surprises.
What Clued You In?
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you brake.
• Brakes feeling a bit soft, aye?
• Pedal going all spongy on ya.
• Pads looking thinner than a cafe lunch.
• Car pulling to one side when you hit the brakes.
WOF Worthy?
Worn brake pads? That's a guaranteed WOF fail, mate. They need to be thick enough to pull you up safely. Give 'em a gander regularly to be sure.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, a quick safety check is a no-brainer. Grab some safety glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers, and a decent set of nitrile gloves will save your hands from getting covered in grime. Speaking of grime, brake dust is nasty stuff – give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. And when you're putting it all back together, a bit of [anti-seize caliper grease] on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly. Never get under a car supported only by a jack!
Expert Advice
Worn brake pads? Not worth the risk, mate. Get them sorted on your Honda Civic or Integra to keep your braking top-notch and avoid wrecking your rotors. Bob @ CARFIX is always keen to help you find the perfect part for your ride. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Double-check the pads fit your exact Honda model and year. The Civic Type R, for example, might need something a bit special. Always do both sides (front or rear) at the same time for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
