Audi A4 RS4 Brake Pad Replacement: A Kiwi DIY Guide
> Your Audi RS4's brake pads are what stop you safely, so keeping them tip-top is a no-brainer. RS4s cop a hiding, so regular checks are crucial for keeping your braking performance spot on. Don't get caught out with a WOF failure!
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing like a pig when you hit the brakes?
• Brakes feeling a bit 'soft' or taking longer to stop?
• A judder through the pedal when you brake hard?
• Pads looking thinner than a cafe lunch slice of ham?
• Dashboard light glaring at you?
WOF Woes? Don't Get Gutted!
Thin brake pads are a dead cert for a WOF failure here in NZ. They need enough meat on 'em to pull you up safely. Keep an eye on those pads to avoid the dreaded pink sticker!

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Right, before you get stuck in, a few must-dos to keep you, your car, and your wallet safe:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported *only* by a jack. Use proper axle stands. Seriously.
• Blast the Dust: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good spray with Brake Cleaner to keep it under control. Minimise that black brake dust!
• Keep it Clean: Those calipers can get proper mucky. Nitrile Gloves will save your hands from looking like you've been down a coal mine. Plus, they give you a better grip.
• Grease is the Word: Use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots to stop things seizing up later. Copper grease works a treat.
• Eye Protection: Safety glasses are cheap as chips and will save you a trip to the eye doctor if any crud flicks up.
Expert Recommendation
Worn brake pads are a safety risk. Get them sorted promptly to avoid further damage. TRW pads are a solid choice for your RS4. Head down to Bob's Shop for a yarn to find exactly what you need!
Fitment Notes
Make sure the brake pads fit your specific Audi A4 RS4 (2006-2008) model and brake system. Always replace pads in pairs on each axle for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
