Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — TRW Edition
> Your Porsche's brake pads are what pull you up at the lights, so keeping them in good nick is a no-brainer. Over time, they wear down, and that means less stopping power and maybe even damage to your rotors – especially if you're giving it heaps.
How'd You End Up Here, Then?
• Hear a squeal or grind when you hit the brakes?
• Brakes not as sharp as they used to be, or taking longer to stop?
• That pesky brake pad warning light's lit up on your dash?
• Can see the pads are looking thin or worn out?
• Feel a wobble or pulsing through the brake pedal?
WOF Worries?
Worn brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in NZ. Your pads need to be thick enough to pull you up safely. Have a squiz at the Land Transport NZ guidelines to make sure you're up to scratch.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking on those brakes, let's make sure you're sorted with a few essentials. Safety first, eh? Grab yourself a pair of safety glasses to keep the muck out of your eyes, and some nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean, because nobody likes brake dust under their fingernails. Now, give those rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner to get rid of any carbon dust, and don't forget a bit of anti-seize [caliper grease] to keep things moving smoothly. Remember, never get under a car supported only by a jack!
Expert Recommendation
New brake pads keep your Porsche stopping like it should. If your pads are worn, they can compromise braking and damage other bits and pieces. Bob at CARFIX is your man for sussing out exactly what you need. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Make sure you get the right brake pad for your Porsche 911 or Boxster, model and year. Some models have different brake setups or pad shapes. Always do both sides of the axle at the same time for even braking.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
