Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — TRW Style
> Brake pads are the unsung heroes in your Fiat Palio or Siena's braking setup. Over time, they wear down, which means less stopping power and potential damage to your rotors. Keep things safe and reliable by swapping them out regularly, especially if you do a lot of city driving or tackle all sorts of roads.
Signs It's Time for New Pads
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes
• Braking feels a bit soft or slow
• Takes longer to stop than it used to
• Steering wheel or brake pedal vibrates when braking
• That pesky brake pad warning light is on
WOF Ready?
Worn brake pads are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in New Zealand. Your pads need to be thick enough to do the job properly. Give them a regular check to avoid that dreaded WOF sticker denial.

🛠️ Bob's Pro Tip: Do the Job Right!
> If you're swapping out these brake pads, don't skimp on proper workshop preparation and safety products. Doing the job right the first time protects your investment, saves massive workshop labor fees, and guarantees a quiet, smooth ride!
🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
