VW Kombi & Transporter Brake Pad Replacement: The TRW Way
> Your Kombi or Transporter's brakes are like your jandals – you really notice when they're worn out! Brake pads wear down over time, especially if you're cruising around with a full load. Keeping on top of this is a no-brainer for safety.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Hear a squeal or grind when you hit the brakes?
• Braking feels a bit 'meh', or takes longer?
• That pesky brake pad light's lit up on the dash?
• Visually, the pads look thinner than a cafe lunch slice of bacon?
• See uneven wear? That's not ideal either.
WOF Woes?
Worn brake pads are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. Gotta have enough meat on those pads to pull you up safely.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, make sure you've got these sorted:
• Safety First: Never, ever get under a vehicle supported only by a jack! Use proper jack stands – it's not worth the risk.
• Cleanliness is Key: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to keep the dust down and your workspace tidy. Makes the job easier too!
• Hand Protection: Keep your mitts clean and protected with a pair of Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner can dry your skin out, and nobody likes greasy hands.
• Stopping Squeaks: A wee bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the contact points can stop annoying squeaks from developing. Worth its weight in gold!
• Eye Protection: Get some safety glasses to keep that brake dust out of your eyes.
Fitment Notes
Double-check these pads fit your exact VW Kombi or Transporter model and year. Some have different setups. Check the specs or ask a mechanic to be 100% sure.
Bob's your uncle – get those brakes sorted and keep cruisin' safely!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
