Description

Swapping Out Your Lexus LS 400 Brake Pads — TRW Edition

> Worn brake pads are a safety risk, mate. Your Lexus LS 400's stopping power relies on good friction material. Letting them wear too thin can even damage your rotors. Keep on top of this for a safe WOF and peace of mind.

What Clued You In?
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you brake?
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights?
• A judder in the pedal when you hit the anchors?
• Pads looking a bit sad and thin?
• That pesky brake pad warning light glaring at you?

WOF Worthy?

You bet your boots worn pads will fail a WOF! They need a decent amount of meat left on 'em to pull you up safely. Give 'em a squiz regularly to make sure you're up to scratch.

DIY or Hand It Over?

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist

Right, before you get stuck in, a bit of housekeeping. Safety first, always! Never, ever get under your Lexus LS 400 supported only by a jack. Get some proper jack stands under there. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep the hands clean. Now, brakes can be dusty, so give those calipers and rotors a good blast with some Brake Cleaner. It'll get rid of all that nasty carbon dust. And don't forget a smear of anti-seize grease on the caliper bolts to keep them sweet for next time. Safety glasses are a no-brainer too, protect those eyes!

Bob's Two Cents

Look, brakes are no joke. Keep your Lexus LS 400 safe for you and the family. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn, and we'll sort you out with the right pads faster than you can say 'flat stick'!

Fitment Notes

Make sure these pads are the right ones for your 1989-1995 Lexus LS 400. While you're at it, check those rotors for wear and tear. If they're looking grooved or scored, best to replace them too for maximum stopping power.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
