Swapping Out Your Brake Pads — TRW Style
> Brake pads? They're the unsung heroes that clamp down on your brake rotors, pulling you up safely. But they don't last forever! As they wear, your braking can get a bit dodgy, and you might even end up doing some damage to other bits, especially if you're racking up the KMs in your Toyota Corolla or Celica.
Signs It's Time to Get Cracking
• Hear a squeal or grind when you hit the brakes?
• Taking longer to pull up than usual?
• Brake pedal vibrating like a kid with too much fizzy?
• Pedal feels soft and spongy?
• Pads look thinner than a cafe lunch (less than 3mm)?
WOF Worthy?
Nope. Bald brake pads are a big no-no for your Warrant of Fitness here in NZ. You simply won't pass if they're looking sad.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you dive in, mate, a few quick words from yours truly! Brake jobs can get a bit dusty and grimy, so let's sort you out:
• Safety First, Eh? Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Axle stands are your best mates here. And chuck on some Safety Glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers.
• Keep it Clean! Brake dust clings to everything. A can of Brake Cleaner is gold for blasting the muck off your rotors and calipers. Makes the job easier, too.
• Glove Up: Your hands will thank you for slipping on some Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and grime aren't exactly kind to the skin.
• The Anti-Seize Secret: A wee dab of anti-seize grease on the caliper bolts will make life much easier next time you're in there. Trust me on this one.

Fitment Notes
These pads are made for a bunch of Toyota models, including the Caldina (1999-2002), various Corollas (1992-1997), Avensis VVT-i (2000-2003), Celica i 16V (1996-1999), Sprinter Trueno (1991-1995), Curren (1994-1998), and Corona (1995-1999). Always double-check the year and model against the product details, just to be 100% sure. Variations can be sneaky!
Bob's verdict: Don't wait until you're grinding metal on metal! Get those pads sorted for peace of mind.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Brakes get incredibly dirty. Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from stubborn brake dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use a high-quality Brake Cleaner spray to blast away stubborn dust, oil, and road grime from the caliper assembly and new rotors before reassembly.
• Lubrication: Apply a thin smear of high-temperature caliper grease to the pad backing plates and slide pins (keep it off the pad friction material!) to prevent squeals and ensure smooth caliper operation.
