Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — Featuring TRW
> Let's face it, your Mazda 3 or CX-3's brake rotors are what stop you. Over time, they wear down – especially with all that start-stop driving in our cities. Ignoring worn rotors is asking for trouble: longer stopping distances and potential WOF failure are just around the corner.

Signs It's Time for New Rotors
• Brakes squealing like a rusty gate?
• Feeling a wobble in the pedal when you hit the brakes?
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights?
• Seeing grooves or damage on the rotor surface?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly?

WOF Woes?
Worn brake rotors are a quick way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools You'll Need: Jack, jack stands (never skip these!), lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a brake caliper tool.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, a few things to keep you safe and the job clean:
• Safety First, Mates! Wear safety glasses to keep that brake dust out of your eyes and heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves to protect your hands from the grime. Brakes can be dusty metal tracks!
• Cleanliness Counts: Give those new rotors a good spray with Brake Cleaner to get rid of any manufacturing oils. You want maximum stopping power, right?
• Lube is Your Friend: Use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts and the hub where the rotor sits to make future removals a breeze. Nobody wants a seized rotor when they're trying to do a quick brake job.

Expert Recommendation
Replacing your Mazda 3 or CX-3's brake rotors is essential for maintaining safe braking performance. A worn rotor will not only reduce braking efficiency but can also damage your brake pads. Fitment Notes
Double-check this rotor fits your specific Mazda 3 or CX-3 year and model. Measure twice, order once! Some models have different sized rotors.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
