Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — by TRW
> Your disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of your braking system. They take a hammering from your brake pads and, over time, wear and tear reduces their ability to cool effectively and stop you safely, especially if you're cruising in a hefty Holden WB One Tonner or Caprice.
Reckon You Need New Rotors? Here's What to Look For:
• Brake pedal feels like it's got a pulse or vibrates
• Brakes are squealing like a gutted pig or grinding away
• Takes you longer than it should to pull up
• Can see scoring or damage on the rotor itself
• Brake pads are wearing unevenly
Will it pass WOF?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF here in NZ. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and free from cracks to pass the test.
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, replacement brake pads (good idea).

• Brake Dust Be Gone: Give those new rotors a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you fit them. Gets rid of any factory gunk or dust.
• No Squeals Allowed: A wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the brake pad contact points stops any annoying squeals down the line.

Fitment Notes
Double-check the new rotor is the right fit for your Holden's model and year. Some models had different rotor sizes. Always do both rotors at once so the braking is even as you go.

• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
