Description

Swapping Out Your Holden H Series Brake Rotors — TRW Style
> Those disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of your Holden H Series' stopping power. Over time, heat and hard yakka can wear 'em down, warp 'em, or even crack 'em. That's bad news for braking and safety, especially on our older machines.

What Clued You In?
• Your brake pedal's doing the Macarena (pulsating or vibrating).
• The brakes are squealing like a stuck pig or grinding like you're at the quarry.
• Taking longer than a cafe lunch to pull up.
• Rotors looking like the surface of the moon (cracked or grooved).
• Brake pads wearing unevenly – suss!

WOF Worthy?
Buggered disc brake rotors are a dead cert for a WOF fail here in NZ. They gotta be within thickness specs and no cracks to be road legal.

DIY or Get a Pro?
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: 2-3 hours per axle
Tools: Jack and stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and new pads (good idea).

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mate! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper stands, or you'll be gutted.
• Cleanliness is Key: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. Keeps the lungs happy and the workspace tidy.
• Hand Protection: Keep those mitts clean and safe with a pair of Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake fluid aren't exactly kind to the skin.
• Anti-Seize is Your Friend: When reassembling, a little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time around. Trust Bob on this one.
• Eye Protection: Those dusty metal tracks are tough conditions, so get yourself some Safety Glasses to stop debris.

Bob's Two Cents
Worn brake rotors are a no-brainer when it comes to safety. Get 'em sorted, and you'll be back to enjoying your Holden H Series with confidence. Pop into Bob's Shop, and we'll sort you out with the right bits for your H Series!

Fitment Notes
Double-check it fits your specific Holden H Series year and model. Always do rotors in pairs for balanced braking. New pads at the same time? Good on ya!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
