Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — With a TRW Rotor
> Disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of your Ford Fairmont or Falcon's braking setup. They cop a beating from friction, heat, and whatever the road throws at them. Over time, that can seriously mess with your braking, especially when you're giving it the beans in an XR8.

Spotting the Warning Signs
• Brake pedal's doing the shimmy or vibrating like crazy
• Brakes are squealing like a stuck pig or grinding something fierce
• Taking way too long to pull up
• Rotors look like they've been through a war zone — scoring, cracks, rust galore
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly

WOF Woes?
Dodgy disc brake rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They've gotta be within the minimum thickness and free from major damage to get the green light.

DIY or Get a Pro?
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: An hour and a half to two hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never skimp on safety!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, rotor removal tool (if you're lucky)

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, mate, safety first! Never get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper stands. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your mitts clean and some Safety Glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes. A can of Brake Cleaner is your best mate for blasting off all that nasty brake dust. And don't forget a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the bolts.

Bob's Two Cents
Running worn brake rotors is just asking for trouble, especially in a performance beast like the Falcon XR8. Swapping them out brings back that sweet, sweet stopping power and keeps you on the right side of the WOF inspector. Swing by Bob's Shop for a yarn; I'll sort you out with the perfect parts for your Ford, no worries!

🛠️ Bob's Pro Tip: Do the Job Right!
> If you're swapping out these parts on your vehicle Ts 50, always install fresh brake pads. Check out our compatible TRW Brake Pads (Part No. GDB1226) to ensure a perfect bed-in and get the job done properly first time!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
