Description

Sorting Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — TRW's Got Your Back
> Disc brake rotors are what your brake pads grip to slow you down. Over time, especially with how tough conditions can be on a performance SUV like a Porsche Cayenne or VW Touareg, they wear out. That means less safe stopping.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Your brake pedal's doing the shimmy (vibrating)
• Brakes are screaming like a banshee
• Taking longer to pull up at the lights
• Rotors look like they've been through a war (scoring or cracks)
• Brake pads wearing unevenly
WOF Woes?
Worn rotors are a quick way to fail your WOF here in New Zealand. They've gotta be thick enough and not cracked to pass the test.
DIY or Get a Pro?
Skill Level: 6/10 (a bit of a mission)
Time Needed: An hour or two per rotor
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a caliper piston tool.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates!: Chuck on some safety glasses and Nitrile Gloves. No one wants brake dust in their eyes or grease under their nails.
• Brake Cleaner is Your Friend: Give those new rotors a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of any manufacturing oils. It helps the pads bed in properly.
• Grease Where It Counts: A dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins keeps everything sliding smoothly. No one likes a sticky caliper.
Bob's Two Cents
Don't muck around with dodgy brakes, especially on a beast like a Cayenne or Touareg. New rotors mean you'll stop properly. TRW's a solid choice, but CARFIX has others. Give Bob a yell at Bob's Shop if you're not sure what you need!

🛠️ Bob's Pro Tip: Do the Job Right!
> If you're swapping out these parts on your vehicle, always install fresh brake pads. Check out our compatible TRW Brake Pads (Part No. GDB1670) to ensure a perfect bed-in and get the job done properly first time!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
