Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — TRW Style
> So, your Dodge Nitro or Jeep Cherokee needs new rotors, eh? No worries, mate! Over time, these fellas wear down, especially if you're giving it heaps on the open road or tackling those tough conditions off the beaten track.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes sound like a strangled cat?
• Steering wheel doing the shimmy when you brake?
• Taking longer to pull up than a cafe lunch?
• Rotors look like they've been attacked by a grinder?
• Pads wearing unevenly? That's a dead giveaway.
Will It Get a WOF, Bro?
Worn or damaged disc brake rotors are a surefire way to fail your WOF. They need to be within the minimum thickness and not look like they've been through a warzone.
DIY or Hand It Over?
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: An arvo should do it (1-2 hours per rotor)
Gear You'll Need: Jack, stands (never skip on safety!), lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, and some brake cleaner. A caliper tool might be handy too.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, let's make sure you're sorted:
• Safety First, Mate! Never, ever get under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands. No exceptions!
• Cleanliness is Key: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. It'll make the job much nicer, and help you spot any issues.
• Protect Your Peepers: Safety glasses are a must. Keep that brake dust and grime out of your eyes.
• Glove Up: A decent set of Nitrile Gloves will save your hands from getting covered in brake dust and grease. Trust me, your significant other will thank you.
• Grease is Your Friend: When reassembling, a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will prevent things from seizing up later. Just don't go overboard!
Bob's Two Cents
Don't muck around with dodgy brakes! Replacing those worn rotors on your Dodge Nitro or Jeep Cherokee will keep you safe and sound. Come on down to Bob's Shop, and we'll sort you out with the right gear!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
