Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — With TRW
> Your Audi's disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit. These discs wear down over time thanks to the friction from the brake pads, especially if you're giving it a good thrashing on the open road or battling through city traffic in your A4 or Q5. If your rotors are warped or too thin, your braking won't be as good as it should be, and that's not ideal for anyone.

Signs You Might Need New Rotors
• Your brake pedal is vibrating.
• You hear squealing or grinding when you brake.
• It's taking longer to stop.
• You can see scoring or damage on the rotors.
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly.

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or damaged brake rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be within the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking, let's make sure you're set up for success. Safety first, always! Grab yourself some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and a pair of heavy-duty nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean. Brake dust is nasty stuff, so don't muck around. A can of Brake Cleaner is essential for blasting away that carbon dust and grime. And, while you're at it, a wee dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will keep things moving smoothly. Never get under a car supported only by a jack – use proper stands!

Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors are a no-brainer when it comes to reducing your braking performance, and that's not something you want to gamble with. Replacing them will make sure you've got the best stopping power possible. Bob @ CARFIX is always here to help you figure out exactly what you need for your Audi. Pop over to Bob's Shop for a yarn!

Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the same size and spec as the ones you're taking off your Audi. Some models have different rotor sizes depending on the trim level.

Bob's tip: Give those shiny new rotors a good clean with brake cleaner before you fit them – gets rid of any factory grease and helps the pads bed in nicely.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
