Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — The TRW Way
> Your FIAT GRANDE PUNTO or PUNTO D Multijet's disc brake rotors are a seriously important part of the braking setup. They gradually wear out from the friction with the brake pads, especially if you're doing a lot of stop-start driving around town. Sort your brakes and keep that WOF in check.

The Telltale Signs
• Brakes are making a racket – squealing or grinding noises.
• Feeling a shudder or pulsing through the brake pedal.
• Your stopping distances are getting longer – not ideal.
• You can see scoring, rust, or other damage on the rotors.

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or rooted disc brake rotors are a dead cert for a WOF failure here in NZ. Rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wrench set, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, wheel chocks

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Right, before you get cracking on those rotors, let's make sure you're sorted with the right gear and know-how. This isn't just about swapping parts; it's about doing it safely and properly.
• Safety First, Cobber: Never, ever get under your FIAT supported only by a jack. Get yourself some proper Jack Stands. Your life's worth more than a cafe lunch.
• Blast that Brake Dust: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to clean the rotors and calipers. Makes the job cleaner and safer.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands from the grime with some Nitrile Gloves. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
• Grease is the Word: Use a dab of Anti-Seize Grease on the caliper bolts to stop them seizing up next time. Makes life easier.

Expert Recommendation
Dodgy brake rotors mean dodgy stopping, and that's not worth the risk in your FIAT GRANDE PUNTO or PUNTO D Multijet. Changing them out gives you the best braking performance, and could save you from an accident. Bob @ CARFIX is always ready to help you find the perfect part for your FIAT. Fitment Notes
Make sure your new rotor is the exact match for your FIAT GRANDE PUNTO or PUNTO D Multijet – same size, same specs. And give your brake pads a good look while you're at it; replace them if they're looking thin to get the best braking performance.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
