Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring TRW
> Your Audi's disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit. They're what your brake pads grip onto to slow you down. Over time, they can wear down, warp from heat, or just corrode, especially on Audis like the A6 and Allroad that see a bit of everything on New Zealand roads.

Symptoms That Led You Here
• Brake pedal's got a bit of a wobble or vibration
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes
• Taking longer to stop than it used to
• Can see scoring or damage on the rotor itself

Will it pass WOF?
Worn brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. They need to be above the minimum thickness and in good nick to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, rotor removal tool (optional)

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get stuck in, a quick yarn about safety and getting the job done properly. We don't want any cafe lunches being interrupted by avoidable trips to the doctor, right?
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under your Audi supported *only* by a jack. Use proper jack stands. Your life is worth more than a new set of rotors.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner before you start pulling things apart. This will keep the dust down and make it easier to see what you're doing.
• Handy Protection: Grab some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and general grime aren't great for your skin.
• Don't Forget the Grease: When you're putting things back together, use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts. This will stop them from seizing up next time you need to get in there.

Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors are a safety risk, plain and simple. Replacing them gets your braking back to where it should be and gives you confidence on the road. Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the right fit for your Audi A6 or Allroad. Double-check the model year and trim level, as there can be differences in rotor size and bolt patterns.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
