Description

Swapping Out Your Suzuki Vitara/Jimny Disc Brake Rotors — The TRW Way
> Disc brake rotors are dead important for stopping safely. They're what your brake pads grab onto to slow you down. If you're giving your Vitara or Jimny a hard time off-road or just racking up the k's, these rotors can wear out, warp, or even crack.
What Clued You In?
• Brakes making a racket? Squealing or grinding? Not good.
• Feeling a judder in the brake pedal?
• Rotors look rough? Scored, rusty, or just plain sad?
• Taking longer to stop than you're happy with?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly? That's a worry.
WOF Woes?
Dodgy disc brake rotors are a quick way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They need to be above minimum thickness and free from cracks to pass the test.

Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: An hour or two per rotor
Gear You'll Need: Jack, stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, and some brake cleaner. A brake caliper tool might come in handy too.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, so you're tackling those rotors, eh? Good on ya! But before you get stuck in, let's make sure you're sorted with a few must-haves:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under your Vitara or Jimny when it's only supported by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth it! And chuck on some Safety Glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Grab some Nitrile Gloves to keep your hands clean. Trust me, you don't want that stuff ingrained in your skin.
• Brake Cleaner is Your Mate: Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner. It'll get rid of all that brake dust and grime, making the job easier and safer.
• Anti-Seize is Key: When you're putting everything back together, use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper pins. It'll stop them from seizing up. Makes the next brake job a breeze.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
