Sorting Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — With TRW
> Brake rotors – they're the unsung heroes hiding behind your wheels. These metal discs are what your brake pads grip to bring your Nissan to a halt. Over time, especially with our tough Kiwi roads and conditions, they can wear down, warp, or get scored, meaning your braking won't be up to scratch, especially if you're cruising around in a Primera or Wingroad.
Narked About These Symptoms?
• Feeling a shudder through the brake pedal or steering wheel when you hit the brakes?
• Hearing squeals, grinds, or scraping sounds when you slow down?
• Taking longer to stop than you used to, or the brake pedal feels soft?
• Seeing nasty grooves, scoring, or discolouration on the rotor surface?
WOF Woes?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a no-go for a WOF, mate. They check the rotor thickness and condition closely because your brakes are your first line of defence on the road.
DIY or Get a Pro?
Difficulty: 6/10 (A Bit Tricky)

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you get cracking, here's Bob's checklist to make sure you get the job done safely and properly:
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth it.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Use Brake Cleaner to blast away the muck before you start pulling things apart. Keeps the lungs happy.
• Hand Protection: Keep your mitts clean and protected with some Nitrile Gloves. Brake cleaner and old brake parts aren't exactly kind to the skin.
• Grease is Your Friend: A little dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the right spots will make life easier next time you're in there. Copper-based stuff is good.
Bob's Two Cents
I always reckon replacing brake rotors in pairs is a no-brainer. Keeps your braking balanced and stops uneven wear. These TRW rotors are top-notch for quality and will give your Nissan solid stopping power. And remember, always pair new rotors with new pads for the best results. • Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
