Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — Featuring DBA
> Your Audi TT's disc brake rotors are what the brake pads grab onto to slow you down. Over time, especially if you drive it hard, these rotors can wear out, get bent out of shape, or even crack from all the heat. This is especially true for sportier models like the TT RS.

Spotting the Trouble Signs
• Your brake pedal feels like it's pulsing or vibrating when you hit the brakes.
• You hear squealing or grinding noises when you brake.
• Your car takes longer to stop than it used to.
• You can see cracks, deep grooves, or a heap of rust on the rotor surface.

Will it pass WOF?
Buggered disc brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors need to be above a certain thickness and without any major damage to pass the test.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 7/10

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those rotors, let's make sure you're set up for success. This isn't just about getting the job done; it's about doing it safely and properly, the Kiwi way.
• Safety First, Mate! Grab yourself some safety glasses. You don't want any brake dust or rust getting in your eyes.
• Keep Those Paws Clean: Get yourself some nitrile gloves. Brake dust is a pain to get off, and these will keep your hands clean and protected.
• Blast That Brake Dust: Grab a can of Brake Cleaner. Give everything a good spray down to get rid of brake dust and grime before you start pulling things apart. Keeps things clean and makes the job easier.
• Caliper Slide Grease: Don't forget a slippy solution for your caliper pins to stop them from seizing up! You need just a tiny amount.

Expert Recommendation
Worn-out brake rotors mean your Audi TT isn't stopping as well as it should, which isn't ideal. Swapping them out for some decent DBA rotors will get your braking back to where it needs to be. Fitment Notes
Make sure you get the right rotor size for your Audi TT. Double-check it fits your model and year. Also, see if it works with your current brake calipers and pads.

Bob's Tip: Never get under a car that's only supported by a jack! Always use proper stands. Safety first, always!

• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
