Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: Let's Get Those Brakes Sorted!

> Disc brake rotors, they're the shiny metal discs doing laps with your wheels. When you hit the brakes, the pads clamp down, using friction to slow your Ford F-150. Over time, they can wear out, warp, or even crack from all the heat and tough conditions, especially if you're towing or carrying heavy loads. This means your braking won't be up to scratch, which is a safety no-brainer.

What Clued You In?
• Feeling a wobble or judder through the brake pedal or steering wheel when you brake.
• Hearing squeals, grinding, or scraping noises when you slow down.
• Noticing you're taking longer to stop than usual.
• Seeing scores, grooves, or cracks on the rotor surface.
• Catching a whiff of burning after a decent bit of braking.

Will it pass WOF?

Nope. If your brake rotors are buggered (severely worn, warped, or damaged), your vehicle will fail its Warrant of Fitness (WOF) inspection faster than you can say "failed inspection". Good brakes are a must-have for safety, mate.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist

Alright, before you dive in, let's make sure you're sorted with the right gear and know-how. Safety first, always! And a clean job is a happy job, eh?
• Safety Glasses: Don't muck around with your eyesight. Get some Safety Glasses to keep the grit out.
• Nitrile Gloves: Keep your mitts clean and protected from brake dust with some Nitrile Gloves. Trust me, you don't want that stuff on your skin.
• Brake Cleaner: This stuff's gold for blasting away brake dust and grime. Grab a can of Brake Cleaner to make sure everything's spick and span.
• Caliper Grease: A little dab of Caliper Grease keeps everything moving smoothly and prevents annoying squeals. Don't go cheap on this one.

Fitment Notes

These rotors are made specifically for Ford F-150 models from 2007 onwards. Double-check your vehicle's year, make, and model, and whether it's for the front or rear, to make sure you get the right fit. Some F-150 models might have different brake setups depending on the trim level or factory options.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
