Description

Swapping Out Those Disc Brake Rotors — The DBA Way
> Disc brake rotors, eh? They're dead important for havin' your Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute pull up safely. Over time, the constant grind from the brake pads wears 'em down, meaning you won't stop as quick. Especially important for the family wagon, aye?
What Clued You In?
• Brakes screamin' like a banshee or grindin' like gears.
• Brake pedal tappin' a jig or judderin' like crazy.
• Takin' forever and a day to pull up.
• Rotors lookin' like they've been through the wars.
• Pads wearin' uneven.
Sweet As, Will It Pass a WOF?
Worn or rooted disc brake rotors are a classic reason for failin' a WOF here in NZ. Rotors gotta be thick enough and not cracked to get the tick of approval.
DIY or Hand It Over?
Skill Level: 6/10
Time Needed: An hour and a half to two hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and maybe a brake caliper tool.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get stuck in, let's make sure you're sorted, safety-wise and all. This ain't just spannering; it's about keeping you and your pride and joy safe, eh?
• Safety Glasses: No one wants metal shards in their peepers. Grab a pair of safety glasses from CARFIX Safety Glasses to keep those eyes protected.
• Nitrile Gloves: Keep those mitts clean and free from brake dust. A decent set of Nitrile Gloves will do the trick. Plus, no one likes the smell of brake dust on their hands, aye?
• Brake Cleaner: Brake dust is a bugger. Blast it away with some Brake Cleaner to keep everything clean and working smoothly. Makes the job a lot easier, too!
• Caliper Grease: Keep those calipers sliding smoothly with some anti-seize Caliper Grease. A little dab will do ya.

And remember, never get under a car supported only by a jack! Use proper stands, or you might be off to the hospital for a cafe lunch.
Bob's Two Cents
Worn brake rotors are a real safety risk for your Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute. Sort 'em out to get your stopping power back to what it should be and dodge any further damage to other bits and pieces. The DBA rotor? Solid choice for better stopping. Bob @ CARFIX is always on hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute. Make sure you head over to Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the right fit for your Ford Escape or Mazda Tribute's year and model. Check the rotor size and thickness to match what you had before.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
