Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — The DBA Way
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously vital piece of the puzzle when it comes to your car's braking. They take a beating over time from the pads clamping down, heat from all that stopping, and of course, all the grit and grime the road throws at them. Especially if you're giving it a good nudge in something like an Infiniti Q60 or Nissan 370Z.
Signs It's Time for a Change
• Your brake pedal's doing the Macarena (vibrating like crazy)
• Sounds like a choir of strangled cats every time you brake
• Taking longer to pull up than a cafe lunch
• Rotors look like they've been attacked by a grinder (scoring, cracks, rust)
• Your brake pads are wearing out unevenly – suss!
WOF Woes?
Worn-out or dodgy brake rotors are a surefire way to fail a WOF here in NZ. They've gotta be within the minimum thickness and free from major damage to pass the test.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, mate, safety first! Grab some safety glasses to keep the crud out of your eyes, and nitrile gloves to keep your hands clean. Give those new rotors a good blast with brake cleaner to get rid of any factory grease. And don't forget a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts to make life easier next time. Never get under a car supported only by a jack!

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
