Description

Ditch those Dodgy Discs: A Brake Rotor Replacement Guide — Featuring DBA
> Your Mitsubishi Galant or Lancer's braking relies heavily on the disc brake rotors. NZ's tough conditions can cause them to wear, warp, or corrode, which means less stopping power when you need it most. Don't get caught out with a nasty surprise on your next WOF check.

Symptoms That Led You Here
• Squealing like a gutted pig when you hit the brakes?
• Brake pedal vibrating like crazy?
• Taking longer to stop than you'd like?
• Rotors looking rough with scoring, cracks, or rust?
• Brake pads wearing unevenly?

Will it pass WOF?
Worn or damaged disc brake rotors are a quick way to fail a WOF in New Zealand. If your rotors are thinner than the minimum spec or have cracks, you're gonna have a bad day.

DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10
Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per rotor
Tools Required: Jack and stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, and potentially a brake caliper tool.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist

Right, before you get cracking, a few things to keep you safe and the job clean:
• Safety First, Mate! Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper jack stands – your life's worth it! Eye protection is also a no-brainer; grab some Safety Glasses to keep the brake dust out of your peepers.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. A can of Brake Cleaner will blast it away. Trust me, you don't want that crud all over your hands.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. They'll keep the grease and grime at bay.
• Lube is Your Friend: A little anti-seize caliper grease on the sliding surfaces will keep everything moving smoothly and prevent annoying squeals. You'll thank yourself later.

Expert Recommendation
Worn brake rotors are a serious safety risk in your Mitsubishi Galant, Legnum, or Lancer. Replacing them gives you the best braking and stops other parts from wearing out too fast. Bob @ CARFIX is always on hand to help you work out exactly what part you need for your Mitsubishi. Make sure you head over to Bob's Shop for a chat!

Fitment Notes
Make sure the new rotors are the right match for your Mitsubishi model and year. Rotor sizes and designs can be different. Double-check ABS fitment if it applies.
