Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: The DBA Edge
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit in your Holden's brake setup. Over time, they wear down, get warped from the heat, or rust up, which means your braking won't be as good, especially if you're giving it a good nudge in a Monaro or Torana.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Squealing like a stuck pig or grinding noises when you hit the brakes
• Feeling a wobble or pulsing through the brake pedal
• Taking way longer to stop than usual
• Seeing grooves, cracks, or rust on the rotor itself
• Brake pads wearing unevenly – that's a worry
Will it pass WOF?
Buggered brake rotors are a pretty common reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. Your rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and without cracks or bad scoring to get the tick of approval.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates! Never, ever get under a car that's only held up by a jack. Use proper axle stands – it's a no-brainer.
• Keep it Clean: Brake dust is nasty stuff. Give everything a good blast with Brake Cleaner to get rid of it.
• Glove Up: Protect your hands with some heavy-duty Nitrile Gloves. Keeps the grease and grime off.
• Don't Seize Up: Use a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the sliding surfaces. Makes the job easier next time.
• Eye Protection: Chuck on some safety glasses! Brake dust and rust flakes love eyes.
Expert Recommendation
Dodgy brake rotors are a real risk to your classic Holden's safety and performance. Swapping them out gives you the best stopping power and response. Bob at CARFIX is always keen to lend a hand figuring out exactly what you need for your Holden. Pop into Bob's Shop for a yarn!
Fitment Notes
Double-check it fits your specific Holden model and year. Some might need different rotor sizes or setups. Always do both brake rotors on an axle at the same time to keep the braking even as she goes.
Bob's Bottom Line: "Don't be a gumby, get your brakes sorted!"

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
