Description

Disc Brake Rotor Replacement: DBA to the Rescue!
> Your disc brake rotors are the unsung heroes of stopping your Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 1/3 Series. They're the surface your brake pads squeeze against. Over time, all that friction takes its toll – they wear down, warp, or even crack. That's when your braking goes to custard.
Uh Oh, Time for New Rotors If You're Hearing:
• Squealing like a stuck pig when you hit the brakes
• Feeling a judder or shake in the pedal
• Taking longer to pull up than usual
• Seeing cracks, deep grooves, or rust patches
• Noticing your brake pads are wearing unevenly
WOF Woes?
Yeah, dodgy brake rotors are a dead cert for a WOF failure here in NZ. They gotta be above the minimum thickness and no major damage to get the tick.
DIY or Get a Pro?
Skill Level: 7/10 (Tricky but doable)
Time Needed: 2-4 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never skip on safety!), wheel brace, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, maybe a rotor removal tool if they're stuck fast.
Bob's Two Cents
Don't muck around with worn brake rotors – they're a safety hazard. Upgrading to quality rotors like DBA will give you proper stopping power and peace of mind. Give Bob a yell at Bob's Shop and he'll sort you out with the right rotors for your Mercedes-Benz or BMW.
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mates!: Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack. Use proper axle stands. Axle Stands
• Cleanliness is Key: Blast away all that nasty brake dust with a good Brake Cleaner spray. It's horrible stuff to breathe in, so do it in a well-ventilated space.
• Lube It Up: A smear of Anti-Seize Grease on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time you're in there.
• Hand Protection: Keep your mitts clean and protected with some Nitrile Gloves. Brake dust is grim stuff.
Fitment Notes
Double-check those new rotors are the right match for your Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 1/3 Series – year and model specific. Some are left or right-side specific. Always do both sides of the axle at the same time for even braking. Bob's your uncle!
