Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — Featuring DBA
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit for your Suzuki Escudo or Grand Vitara's braking. They gradually wear down from all the friction and heat, and that can make your braking less effective and less safe. Especially if you're giving it a good thrashing, or tackling those dusty metal tracks we all know and love.
What Clued You In?
• Squealing like stuck pigs or a nasty grinding when you hit the brakes.
• Feeling a judder through the brake pedal.
• Taking way longer to pull up than usual.
• Seeing scoring, rust, or cracks on the rotor itself.
• Your brake pads are wearing unevenly – not ideal.
WOF Worries?
Worn or dodgy disc brake rotors are a dead cert for failing your WOF here in New Zealand. Your rotors have to be above the minimum thickness and without cracks or major damage to pass the test.
DIY or Get a Pro?
Difficulty: 6/10
Time Needed: Give yourself 1.5 to 2 hours per axle
Gear You'll Need: Jack and stands (never get under a car supported only by a jack!), wheel wrench, socket set, torque wrench, brake cleaner, new brake pads (good idea while you're at it).
🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
• Safety First, Mate!: Before you even think about touching a wrench, make sure your Suzuki is parked on level ground, properly secured with wheel chocks, and resting safely on jack stands. Never, ever rely solely on a jack. Grab some Nitrile Gloves and Safety Glasses to keep your hands clean and your eyes protected from brake dust and debris.
• Cleanliness is Key: Brake work is messy. Old brake pads and rotors create a ton of nasty dust that you don't want to breathe in or get all over your ride. Have a decent supply of rags handy to wipe down components and keep your workspace tidy.
• Protect Your Investment: New rotors and pads need to bed in properly. Avoid harsh braking for the first few hundred kilometers to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Don't Forget the Good Stuff: A can of Brake Cleaner is your best mate for blasting away brake dust and grime. Also, a dab of anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts will make your life easier next time you're in there.
Expert Tip
Worn brake rotors aren't worth the risk to your Suzuki Escudo or Grand Vitara's safety. Replacing them brings back that confident braking feel, especially when you're towing or hitting the rough stuff. DBA rotors are a solid choice for better stopping power that lasts. Fitment Notes
Double-check it fits your Suzuki Escudo or Grand Vitara, right down to the year and model. Get the rotor diameter and thickness spot-on before you start. Some models might have different rotor sizes or need special tools to fit.

• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
