Disc Brake Rotor Swap-Out: The DBA Way
> Your BMW's disc brake rotors are dead important - they're where the brake pads clamp down. Over time, especially with tough driving in a BMW 1 M or M3, these rotors can get worn, warped, or even crack. That means dodgy braking and less safety, which is no good.
Tell-tale Signs You've Got Rotor Issues
• Brake pedal feels like it's pulsing or vibrating
• Squealing or grinding when you hit the brakes
• Takes longer to stop than it used to
• Can see cracks or deep grooves on the rotor
• Brake pads are wearing unevenly
WOF Worries?
Worn brake rotors are a common reason for failing a WOF here in NZ. They need to be above the minimum thickness and free from serious damage to pass the test. No one wants to be gutted by a failed WOF.

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Alright, before you get cracking on those rotors, a few quick things to keep you safe and get a top-notch result:
• Safety First, Mates!: Grab some safety glasses to keep the dust and debris out of your eyes. Trust me, brake dust is nasty stuff.
• Keep Those Hands Clean: A decent set of nitrile gloves will stop your hands from looking like you've been down a coal mine. Brake cleaner makes your skin dry out!
• Carbon Dust Removal: Grab a few cans of Brake Cleaner. Blast that carbon dust away, especially around the calipers and new rotors.
• Anti-Seize is Your Friend: A little anti-seize caliper grease on the caliper bolts will make life easier next time. Stops them seizing up.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
