Description

Swapping Out Your Disc Brake Rotors — DBA Featured
> Disc brake rotors are a seriously important bit of kit in your Mercedes-Benz C-Class's braking system. Over time, they take a hammering from friction, heat, and all the grit on our roads. This wears them down, which means your braking isn't as sharp and could get you into a sticky situation, especially battling Auckland traffic.
Spotting the Warning Signs
• Hearing squealing or a nasty grinding when you hit the brakes
• Feeling a judder or pulsing through the brake pedal
• Brakes just not biting like they used to
• Seeing scoring, cracks, or rust patches on the rotor itself
• Your Merc pulling to one side as you brake
WOF Worthy?
Worn or dodgy brake rotors are a quick way to fail your WOF here in NZ. Rotors need to be above the minimum thickness and free from cracks or major damage to pass the test.
DIY or Workshop?
Difficulty: 6/10

🛠️ Bob's "Get It Done Right" Companion Checklist
Before you dive in, mate, safety first! Grab some safety glasses to keep metal shards out of your eyes. And don't forget a pair of nitrile gloves – keeps your hands clean from all that brake dust, which is nasty stuff. While you're at it, a can of brake cleaner is gold for blasting away carbon dust. Smear a bit of anti-seize caliper grease on the threads to avoid headaches down the road. Never, ever get under a car supported only by a jack – use proper stands!
Expert Recommendation
Worn rotors mean your Mercedes-Benz C-Class isn't stopping as well as it should, which is a no-brainer when it comes to safety. A fresh set will bring back that confidence. Fitment Notes
Double-check the new rotors are spot-on for your specific Mercedes-Benz C-Class model and year, as rotor sizes and designs can be different. Always swap rotors in pairs (both fronts or both rears) to keep your braking balanced.

🧰 What Else You'll Need:
• Safety First: Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always secure it on heavy-duty safety jack stands.
• Brake Dust Protection: Keep a pack of Nitrile Gloves handy to protect your hands from grease and dust.
• Clean and Prep: Use Brake Cleaner to clean the anti-corrosion shipping oil off the new rotors before mounting the calipers.
• Lubrication: Apply caliper grease to caliper slide pins and pad contact points to prevent squealing.
